About

“I’m a madman that does poetry, comedy and casual ukuleleism, amongst other things that shouldn’t be done”

Mxcellany aka Emilie is an Edinburgh-based poet/musician and voice-over artist since August 2016 (oh god, I sound like a w***** talking about myself in the third-person).

In August 2016, in between working different shows during another hectic and beautiful Edinburgh Fringe Festival, I found myself in an odd little room in Banshee Labyrinth. It was at this moment I realised I had wondered into a poetry slam. And the competition was fierce. And I thought “I could do that!”

So the whole thing was just a perfectly timed accident. Since that fateful evening, I’ve been poeting and slamming as often as I can, appearing at events all over… well, South Bridge in Edinburgh. Although I am known to occasionally appear at George IV Bar with a ukulele in my hand on a Sunday night.

I’m currently writing my first full-lenth solo show for the Edinburgh Horror Festival “We All Have Fears…” which will be debuting on 27 October 2017.
